Located a little over an hour from Melbourne amidst the internationally acclaimed Yarra Valley wine region, the Healesville Sanctuary is home to more than 200 species of native animals. With this small group tour, take the scenic route from Melbourne that travels through bushland, vineyards and farmland and spend the morning getting close to kangaroos, koalas, emus and birds. Enhancing the day is an excellent a la carte lunch at Yering Station and some wonderful cheeses at De Bortoli.Located north-east of Melbourne is the world famous Healesville Sanctuary, one of Australia's most recognized and acclaimed wildlife sanctuaries. Set amidst 75 acres of bushland, it showcases more than 200 species of Australian wildlife in a distinctly Australian setting. During the morning visit, guests can experience close encounters with some of Australia's most unique and captivating wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas, emus, wombats, platypus and birds of prey.  

Early afternoon, travel through to the Yering Station Vineyard for lunch in their stunning Wine Bar Restaurant. With its world class views and cuisine, there's a full a la carte menu from which to select your main course meal and glass of wine. After lunch, visit the original winery (circa 1959) that features local artworks and produce as well as estate wines to taste.

The final stop for the day is the De Bortoli Winery at Dixons Creek. As the Valley's largest producer, it's a great end to the day with superbly flavoured cheeses complementing their sparkling, table and dessert wines.

Your journey home can take you through Steels Creek and the Christmas Hills for superb Valley views and the occasional kangaroo.
