Underground rivers stream out to the Caribbean Sea and form a unique set of lagoons, cenotes and creeks at Xel-Há, making this location an ideal spot to explore natural formations and marine life. Take a pocket map after entering the park, and head over to the lagoon. Here, pick up snorkeling gear and towels (rental provided but deposit required) and stash your personal items in nearby lockers. For the best views of tropical fish and rays, explore the sides of the lagoon, and marvel at the turquoise and emerald green waters.
Alternatively, take the tram, walk or bicycle to the top of the river, and climb into an inner tube. Pass by lovely mangroves, float lazily down the river, and if you’re feeling adventurous, take the opportunity to jump off a cliff into the water below.
