Hop onto our the "Carbon Neutral Hummer" and enjoy a unique open-air wine tour into Santa Ynez Valley. We pick-up you up at one of our "wild" spots or your place of lodging around 10am and head out to the Santa Ynez Valley via the scenic San Marcos Pass, an area that showcases the unique geology and terrain that makes growing grapes here so interesting and beautiful.
The focus of our this tour is to taste good wine that uses a variety of conventional, organic, dry farming, and biodynamic farming methods in the Santa Ynez Valley. We will stop at 3 vineyards (1 large production, 2 small production) for special tastings that will showcase the white and red wines of each vineyard (tasting fees are included in tour).
The Santa Ynez Valley is now home to 4 American Viticulture Areas (AVAs). We'll visit Ballard Canyon and Happy Canyon AVAs in the areas near Los Olivos. Riding in an open air vehicle through this area is the best way to connect to the sights and smells of these farms while taking note of the climate differences as we climb and descend hills into microclimates. And when we think of stunning vineyards and rolling hills, we think of Santa Rita Hills. This area is home to some very prestigious, and delicious, wine making, mostly Burgundy varietals.
An our way back we'll take the coastal 101 route through the Gaviota Coast enjoying a nice ocean breeze and the sunsetting over the Santa Barbara Channel and Channel Islands National Park.
An organic, locally sourced, lunch and snack with beverages will be served at a special vineyard spot along the way. You will have the option of several sandwiches and salads when you place your order.
Open Party Tour: We need 4 people to run this tour. If you have a group smaller than 4, you can book, but you will not be confirmed until we meet our minimum. We will cancel all tours 24 hours prior that have not met the minimum. Once we meet the minimum you will be sent a confirmation and your Credit Card will be charged.
