A soil cultivated for the first time is rich in nutrients that Plavac mali needs. Thanks to the air circulation, loads of light and warmth, the sprayings of vineyards are minimal and make them well suited for ecological cultivation of Plavac mali, and the results enable a production of completely natural wine.
First winery what we will visit is located in Potomje (own expense), from family Vukas (they produce wines almost for 100 years). This winery is for an introduction to its wines, brandies and to taste home made sparkling wine with strawberries. After tasting a selection of the produce, the winery owner will show you to the nearby vineyards and explain the story of wine production in the Pelješac region.
Next winery (own expense) is famous Grgich winery, owner is Miljenko “Mike” Grgich, a legend from the Napa Valley, where he established Grgich Hills Estate as one of the premier wineries in the U.S. and the world and now presented in Peljesac. His winery is located in Trstenik, with a stunning view over the Mediterranean Sea, north of the historic walls of the port of Dubrovnik, in the Southern wine region of Croatia.
Third winery (own expense) is owned by true wine lover, a true professor of wine producing Frano Milos. He is passionate about his wines, and follow his rules, philosophy and principles when it comes to wine making. Mr. Milos and his family will explain you how vintage creates a tie to put all experiences with soil, sun, warm, light, air circulation, types of downfall, humidity into harmony.
