Highlights of this three day touring package will include the famous scenery of the Lake District, the best of the Yorkshire Dales and time to admire Hadrian's Wall.Day 1: Wednesday - Yorkshire Dales (9.45am departure, 5.45pm return)
On leaving the Lakeland town of Windermere your first day of touring commences heading to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. You drive to the quaint village of Sedbergh and head up to see the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway and the spectacular viaduct. You venture down into Wensleydale and Hardraw before descending into Swaledale through the valley to the small market town of Reeth for lunch. Your next stop is Bolton Castle in which Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned before our journey up the valley to the spectacular Aysgarth Waterfalls, which is famous for scene from Robin Hood Prince of thieves. From here you make our way to Hawes for a stop before continuing into the lovely village of Dent, famous for the Dent knitters and brewery. You complete the journey back to Windermere via Kirkby Lonsdale.
Day 2: Thursday - The Lake District (9.45am departure, 5.30pm return)
The Lake District is renowned for being the “most beautiful corner of England” and this full day tour introduces you to just that, the magnificent scenery of the Lakeland fells, valleys and lakes from the south to the north. The tour includes a lake cruise, a visit to the 4,000 year old Castlerigg Stone Circle set high on the fells, and time in Keswick for lunch. Travelling over passes, through beautiful valleys, you will see waterfalls and traditional Lakeland villages, there will be plenty of stops for admiring the views and taking photographs. The day will show you ten of famous Lake District lakes including Windermere, Rydal Water, Grasmere, Thirlmere, Derwent Water, Buttermere, Crummock Water, Bassenthwaite, Ullswater and Brothers Water. This tour is not just about Lakes, there will be time to see some spectacular mountainous scenery, as you travel over the famous Kirkstone and Honister mountain passes, some the highest in the Lake District.
Day 3: Friday - Hadrian's Wall (9.15am departure, 6pm return)
On Leaving Windermere you drive through the heart of the National Park, beside the lakes and through the valleys, and on towards Penrith and the North of the country. You continue into the remote 'Debatable Lands' of the Border Reivers heading to Lanercost Priory, with time to see the church built within the priory ruins and Sir Edward Burne Jones windows. You follow Hadrian's Wall, following it past 'Mile Castles' and 'Towers' to our lunch stop at 'The Roman Army Museum'. In the afternoon you continue along the 'Wall' seeing the spectacular Fell End, Sunny Rigg, Great Chester and finally Steel Rigg. You return via Alston, England's highest market town and a time to admire the view at the Hartside Pass, which gives superb views across Cumbria.
