The Santiam River is home to some of the best rafting and kayaking in northwest Oregon - it has great year round flow and is located approximately one hour west of Portland.  The lush canyon contains different sections offering a variety of challenges and opportunities ranging from a gentle float with little white water to challenging class 3 rapids with names like The Swirlies, Spencers Hole, Carnivore and Mill City Falls.  Although the different sections offer unique challenges for both individuals and a families alike, both trips are led by trained, experienced local guides with incredible knowledge of the river.  

You Santiam River trip starts at a local outpost in Mill City, OR.  After a brief safety training and introduction to your chosen activity, you will be sized for a paddle, given a life jacket and organized among the various rafts.  The scenic float trip starts at 10:30am sharp and launches into a calm, quiet section of river surrounded by dense forest and abundant wild life.  The white water trip begins in the afternoon, at 3pm, and starts out gently but gains momentum as the trip progresses.  Although class I and II rapids are easily accessible to novices and beginners, the more intermediate class III white water sections are only available for those aged 12 and up.  

At the end of the seven mile journey down the gorgeous blue river, your guide will direct you to the riverbank will you will pull out of the river and be driven back to your car near your starting point.
