Your 5-hour tour begins on the meandering beaverfoot river. It's poignant green colour and the mountains of Yoho and Kootenay National Parks are a stunning backdrop for this once in a lifetime adventure.
Catch a glimpse of wildlife as you glide along silently. Remnants of early homesteading and logging can be seen along the river banks. Navigating a river on a stand up paddleboard can be challenging, but your guide is there to help you with tips and tricks. If you get overwhelmed, you can always sit on your knees on the board to lower your centre of gravity.
You'll paddle the Beaver River to it's terminus above Wapta Falls. From here, take the most breathtaking photos as you stand upstream of Wapta Falls. To the east, gaze in awe at Mount Chancellor, a stunning peak in Yoho National Park that is over 10,000 feet. And to the west, hear the deep thunder of mighty Wapta Falls.
Then travel a historic portage trail from the Upper Falls to the Lower Falls. Stop at three viewpoints for incredible photo opportunities and to soak in the falls in all its glory. You'll paddle along the path less travelled and experience Yoho National Park and Wapta Falls in a way that only a handful of people get to do every summer.
Arrive downstream of the base of the Falls and paddle along the Kicking Horse River. The pace picks up as you navigate Class 1 and Class 2 rapids on your stand up paddleboards under the supervision of your guide. 4 kilometres later, you'll reach the take out point and enjoy a well deserved lunch. At the end of your tour, enjoy free digital photos of your day paddleboardng.
Everyone is equipped with a stand up paddleboard, paddle, and all necessary gear. Group sizes are between 2-9 people and there is a guide for every 5 guests.
