After meeting your guide in central Ponta Delgada, you will be brought to the trail-head which starts at Vista do Rei viewpoint and ends in the parish of Sete Cidades. This is considered an easy trail with a distance of about 4.5 miles (7km).
It starts on the western side of Cumeeira da Caldeira das Sete Cidades, which is Caldeira’s highest point. On this part of the trail you will see Caldeira Seca and Sete Cidades lakes on your right-hand side and, on your left-hand side, the western coast of Sao Miguel island. During your day, you will enjoy lunch with some amazing views.
You will follow the unpaved trail until you reach a road that links Mosteiros to Sete Cidades. This trail runs through a zone classified as protected landscape and your local guide will explain what is being done to contribute to its protection and the conservation of this natural habitat.
