Your journey begins at the main town waterfront, where your tour guide explains a bit of the historic background of Split's beginnings. The division of the city's boundaries to the new and the old city are still visible today even within the ancient walls of Diocletian's Palace where you proceed afterwards. The Cellars, Residential part, Kryptoportiq and the Vestibule are just some of our stops which lead us to the heart of the Old town's center, the Imperial square also known as the Peristyle. This ceremonial place points out to the Cathedral of Split also known as Saint Domnius cathedral and the former headquarters of Diocletian's soldiers, servants and slaves, where you will be heading next. The Silver Gates, Golden Gates and Iron Gates are land entrances to the Palace which have a story of their own, and are also waiting to be heard.
