Get the chance to try Okonomiyaki, Gyoza nabe, Chicken namba, Yakisoba and other regional foods from the south of Japan. Nestled in the backalleys, these places are unforgettable and an experience you wont want to miss.On this 3-hour tour, you will be shown the delicious side of Shibuya which is a place more known for being at the forefront of culture and fashion, and rarely known for its food.
Most people get caught up in the lights and sounds of Shibuya which often lead you astray to commercialized restaurants with low introductory prices that later charge you for compulsory add-on's.
*if you arrive more than 10 minutes after the meeting time, the tour will unfortunately have to start without you.
START--> Starting in Shibuya Station, you will have a chance to take a few pictures of the surrounding area before moving through the central shotengai (shopping street). Weaving in and out of alleys and streets gives you a feel of the hustle and bustle of the area. After you make it through the endless ocean of neon lights to the outskirts of central Shibuya, you will arrive at a locally owned Hiroshima inspired eatery. Here you will be able to sit up close and personal with the cooks as they make the most delicious Hiroshima Oknomiyaki. Delicious with every bite you can have vegetarian, seafood or meat stuffed versions all big enough to satisfy the most intense hunger.
After you finish, it's time to head back to the glitz and glam of central Shibuya to a local spot known for its appreciation of Hokkaido cuisine. Here you will spend about an hour enjoying a pre-selected menu of traditional Hokkaido food including Chicken Namba, Hokkaido Yakisoba, Gyozai Nabe, Hokkaido Ramen salad, Char grilled Hokkaido Chicken, and Corn and Hokkaido Cheese (this one will surprise you!). Wash it all down with a Japanese beer or shochu (distilled spirit from rice, barely or sweet potatoes, normally less than 45% alcohol by volume) before the group heads out to the underground food market called the Tokyu Food Show to get a sense of the vast spectrum of foodie delights available for purchase before we end the tour.
The market is right beneath Shibuya station so you will not have any problems finding a train home!
