Begin your Viator exclusive tour with convenient 7am pickup at their Waikiki hotels. The guide will play an onboard video featuring a welcome message delivered by Pearl Harbor survivor Alfred Rodrigues, including an overview the day’s key sites and activities. Review the lunch menu and put in an order for your meal at the Laniakea Café.
Upon arrival at the USS Missouri entrance on Ford Island, walk to the end of the Missouri’s pier to hear an imaginative narration of the attacks on Pearl Harbor from this vantage point.
Embark on a 40-minute tour of the Missouri led by an onsite guide, covering the exterior areas of the Missouri, including the Surrender Deck where the signing of the Japanese surrender ending WWII took place. Meet up with your driver/guide to explore the interior of the Missouri, including the Kamikaze Exhibit, the Truman Line, the Bread Line and Bakery, the Berthing Areas, the WWII Exhibit and the Ward Room. Choose to skip the interior tour and explore on your own if you like.
Back on the mini coach, head for the Pacific Aviation Museum, stopping to view the Oklahoma Monument while listening to a short narrative.
Upon arrival at the museum, head to the Laniakea Café for lunch, including one alcoholic beverage.
After the meal, follow your guide to Hangar 79, where you have a look around at your leisure before meeting your onsite guide for the Restoration Tour. Proceed into the ‘off limits’ area where aircraft recently acquired by the museum are undergoing restoration or preservation in order to be made fit for display. Learn the rich history behind each aircraft from your guide. Back in the mini coach, head for the Pearl Harbor Visitor Area. Disembark and pick up your audio guide headsets. Receive a souvenir tote bag containing a reproduction of the December 7, 1941 official newspaper and a military dog tag with exclusive 75th Anniversary engraving.
Proceed to the theater for a 20-minute film outlining the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, then board a navy vessel for the short ride out to the Arizona Memorial. With your audio guide, explore the Memorial, then head back to the visitor center aboard the navy vessel. At the conclusion of your visit to the Arizona, board your coach and head for the Waterfront Memorial. Meet a Bowfin Submarine representative, who will fill you in on the wartime role of submarines. Proceed to an off-the-beaten-path outdoor area featuring a ‘kaiten’ or one-man Japanese suicide torpedo submarine.
Visit the Submarine Museum, take in a large model of the Bowfin Submarine, then get some pointers on the best displays to visit from your guide. Don your audio guide and proceed on a self-guided, 45-minute audio tour of the submarine itself. Meet your guide/driver back at the coach for the return trip to Waikiki, during which you will watch a message from attack survivor Alfred Rodrigues. Your tour concludes with hotel drop-off in Waikiki.
