Treat yourself with an unusual experience in Venice, an original itinerary to follow the steps of one of the most famous personalities of the Venetian Republic, Giacomo Casanova! Retrace his life and adventures in the places where they actually took place and, at the same time, discover the habits and traditions of 18th century Venice on an exciting walking tour. The history of Venice is full of iconic characters and Giacomo Casanova is surely the most famous of them. His complicated life, with countless love affairs, travels through Europe and even an assignment as a spy for the Republic of Venice, made of Casanova the symbol of the Venetian Eighteenth Century.

The tour will start from St. Mark's Square, under the Clock Tower: from this point you will pass through the commercial district of the city, the Mercerie, to reach Campo San Bartolomeo. Here you will have the pleasure to “meet” another fundamental character of the Venetian eighteenth century, the playwright Carlo Goldoni and its bronze sculpture.
An interesting fact is that Goldoni knew very well Casanova’s mother, actress Zanetta Farussi, since she played the leading role in many of his plays! From there you will cross Rialto Bridge and reach the quarter of San Polo, where you will visit the Rialto market, the place that Casanova and many young Venetians used to frequent after a night of feasting. Not far from here is Castelletto, the historic red light district of Venice, in which you will take a break at the famous Osteria “Ae do Spade” (or at another Osteria if this is closed).
Here, while you will be enjoying a glass of wine and a typical Venetian appetizer, our guide will tell you interesting stories about the famous Venetian libertine! Then, you will cross the Grand Canal by gondola and visit important places in Casanova’s life. In Cannaregio, for example, lived C.C., one of the greatest love of his life, and Casanova himself spent many years of his life in Palazzo Bragadin. The last step of our journey through the adventurous life of Giacomo Casanova will be in Campo Santa Maria Formosa, with the Palazzo Querini Stampalia, once house of two great friends of Giacomo, Angelo and Andrea Querini, and now converted into an important museum.
