ride from Assi Ghat to Daswamedha Ghat. Catch the glimpse of the
gigantic Ghats of Varanasi and proceed to visit Kashi Vishwanath and Sankat Mochan Temples. Learn
about Hindu mythology from an expert local guide. You will be picked up from your centrally located hotel and proceed on a boat ride on the Ganges. Starting at Assi Ghat, city’s most prominent bathing Ghat, the boat ride takes you through the 5000-year old history of Varanasi, also believed to be one of world’s oldest living cities. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, enjoy a surreal sunrise, floating on the sacred river. The boat ride ends at Manikarnika, the cremation Ghat of Varanasi, marking the journey of a person from birth to death and ultimately attaining salvation. You will learn from your guide the legends and stories that bind the city together from time immemorial.
After the boat ride, proceed to Kashi Vishwanath Temple at 7:30am, crossing through the legendary narrow lanes of Varanasi. This 17th century temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has the reputation of being one of the most visited temples in north India. Participate in the morning Pooja (ceremonial prayers) ritual and get an insight into the culture and traditions of Hinduism. From there, proceed to a local restaurant for vegetarian breakfast and devour the flavors of Varanasi.
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Sankat Mochan Temple, dedicated to the monkey god of Hindu mythology. “Sankat Mochan” literally means the one who relieves you from all the troubles, and this ancient temple is believed to have divine power. Devotees flock in huge numbers and offer yellow sweets to the temple deity “Hanumana”. From there proceed to visit the new Vishwanath temple, also called the Birla temple, made as a replica of the original temple with intricate carvings on beautiful white marble. At the end of this visit you will be transferred back to your hotel.
