Vancouver Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga
Vancouver, Canada
Trip Type: Other Water Sports
Duration: 90 minutes
Experience British Columbia’s crystal-blue waters as never before, from the top of a stand-up paddle board in Vancouver. The vantage point provided by standing above the water allows you to see deeper and farther. But there’s an extra twist: you will also be practicing yoga moves on the board. The fluidity of the foundation makes yoga slightly more challenging, meaning you get a better workout, though you can customize the intensity to your ability. Whether you’re a novice or a guru, you’ll enjoy this exhilarating and centering outdoor activity.

Your 1.5-hour stand-up paddleboard yoga session begins at Kitsilano Beach. Receive a brief orientation from your instructor about the history of stand-up paddleboard yoga (also known as SUP yoga) and get a feel for the weight and maneuverability of the board. Wade into English Bay’s dazzling waters and hop aboard your personal vessel.
As you embark across the water, take a moment to enjoy the amazing views of the Vancouver’s silver skyline backed by towering, craggy mountains. Once you’re comfortable on your board, your instructor will lead a yoga session. Test your balance skills and build up your core strength as your board gently rocks beneath you. Transition from downward dog to plank pose and other yoga positions. Explore the yoga poses at your own pace and ability level. You might even surprise yourself with an ambitious tree pose.
Return to shore after your 1.5-hour session with a newfound appreciation for the water and yoga — and likely a few slightly sore muscles.
