Explore the rugged beauty of Vancouver Island's rocky coastline, see old-growth forest towering almost 300 ft. overhead, and experience the pristine wonder of cascading waterfalls and preserved natural habitat in a socially and environmentally conscious way.
Vancouver Island offers incredible opportunities to experience beautiful scenic landscapes and view wildlife in a natural setting. With Canada's warmest average climate, much of the island is considered temperate rainforest with a diverse variety of flora and fauna guaranteed to delight both professional naturalists and elementary schoolchildren alike. While there are many ways to experience the natural beauty of British Columbia's largest Island, a guided eco tour is one of the best ways to responsibly explore this exciting paradise to any lover of the outdoors.
Your guided nature hike begins at 1pm in the Qualicum/Parkesville area and can be slightly adjusted depending on your group and location. From the beach, you will explore beautiful coastal scenery while learning about the unique ecosystem of the temperate rain forest and tidal zones you will walk through. Your guides, Ronda and Gary, have spent years studying and researching this special island and will provide you everything you could hope to know about its geology, its first peoples, and the challenges facing conservation efforts today. Along the way, you'll likely to encounter wildlife ranging from marine animals, birds, and sometimes even bear and deer.
After 3 to 4 hours of moderate walking, you will return to the beach where you started with a newfound appreciation of Vancouver Island and the special people working hard to preserve it for future generations.
