These nesting grounds are monitored by the Malaysian Fishery Department with rules and regulations, and best periods witness this is from May to September, especially during the high tide. Green turtles may grow over one meter in carapace length and weigh between 308-573 pound (140 - 260 kg). The green turtle is usually olive-brown in color, it is named for the color of its fat. The English name is Green Turtle, the scientific one is Chelonia mydas and the Malay Name is Penyu Agar.
Habitat and Ecology of Green Turtles :
They are almost exclusively vegetarian and feed on algae, sea grasses and sometimes on sponge. In Malaysia, green turtles nest on sandy beaches of the coast and offshore islands of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
