Are you ready to discover the secrets behind traditional Turkish water marbling? Let's learn how to transfer colours from water onto paper and create your own designs in this hands-on workshop with a local marbling artist!Water marbling is a traditional Turkish art form. There’s ambiguity about where and when it emerged, however the first examples of Turkish marbling date back centuries. It’s called water marbling as designs are created on the surface of water and then transferred onto paper.
In this workshop you’ll hear about the history of traditional Turkish water marbling and learn how to prepare the materials. A local marbling artist will demonstrate the technique, and then it will be your turn to try it for yourself. At the end of the workshop you’ll have your own sheet of marbled papers to take home.But you have to wait at least 2 hours for the marbled papers dry out. You can come and pick up your marbled papers from the atelier afterwards
The workshop duration is one hour. After meeting at Galata Tower, we’ll walk 300 metres to the atelier where the workshop will take place.
