Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour. A First in Africa Eco family friendly 2.5 hour adventure activity. Enjoy the unequalled beauty of the indigenous forest high up on ten treetop platforms. Gently glide along in a harness, on steel cables 30 meters above the forest floor. Bird life is abundant and your guides will explain the ecology of the lush primeval forest.The only fully, 10 platform, tree based canopy tour in Africa. See the giant trees with branches draped in grandfather's beard 30m above the canopy floor.
The experience begins with a safety briefing at the office, during which you will also be kitted out with a sliding harness, safety helmet, sliding glove and pulley.
After the briefing you will be transported approximately 1 km to the starting point of the pristine indigenous forest. This is where your unforgettable adventure begins.
During the tour your guides will keep you entertained and informed with interesting facts about the spectacular Tsitsikamma Indigenous forest. You will encounter Hard Pear trees, Giant Yellow Woods and other interesting Forest Flora. Stand next to a giant Outeniqua Yellow wood and feel like a dwarf against this unique creation. You will encounter beautiful Tree Ferns hundreds of years old.
Safety is paramount and the system has been built to high civil engineering standards. Guides are fully trained.
Tours depart at 30min intervals, 7 days per week, and are restricted to a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 persons per tour. Big groups will be split in 15min intervals.
The tour takes about 2½ – 3 hours including a safety briefing, kit-up, transport and light meal afterwards. Anyone between the ages of 7 to 70 can go on a tour, although we have made exceptions depending on the fitness of older people and whether or not the harness fits properly on a younger child.
A lunch is included in the price and is served after the tour. This can be served before the tour if you arrive at least 1 hour before activity departure.
