If you would like to experience the narrow gauge railroad in a different way, then the handcar is a great alternative.An environmentally friendly way, where you create the power. It starts at Björkudd in Hultsfred, and you can cycle a total of 12 km down to Malilla.
The web path follows the normal track Nässjö-Oskarshamn for the first 2.5 km, crosses over a bridge and then goes into the woodlands. Halfway, it crosses highway 23/34 on a bridge. At Ödhult there is the first rest area with benches and tables.
From Ödhult to Hesjön, the trail goes through the woodlands where you'll catch a glimpse of a couple of lakes between the trees.
After about 10.5 km, you ride on the bank of Hesjön. On the other side is a nice picnic area with benches tables and outhouses. This stop is great for picnics, swimming or just enjoying the atmosphere. Here, there are turning plates that simplify the use of the heavy trolley engines.
It is possible to cycle for about 1km towards Målilla sanatorium. This is the final stop for the trolley engines.
