Meet Diep (pronounced "Yeep") who lives with her husband, young baby, and her parents in a typical family home in Danang. Hosting with Traveling Spoon is a way for Diep to share her passion for her country’s culture, traditions and cuisine with her guests. She looks forward to introducing Vietnamese home cooking to you!
Join Diep and her mother Loc in the kitchen to learn how to prepare 2-3 dishes in a hands-on cooking lesson. You will help chop, stir and fry the meal. The cooking lesson will last about an hour before you gather with the family to enjoy the meal together. Diep and her mother will prepare additional dishes in advance.
Enjoy home-style central Vietnamese dishes with Diep and her family. Your meal will consist of 3-5 dishes, including a soup like canh chua ca (sour fish soup) or a vegetable soup, a main dish of meat or seafood (like her mother’s muc nhoi thit, stuffed squid), stuffed tofu, stuffed bitter melon, and fresh vegetable dishes such as stir-fried morning glory or chayote, crispy tofu in tomato-egg sauce, and rice. End your meal with fresh, seasonal fruit and tea. The menu will vary based on the season.
