After an introduction in the minibus before departure the tour heads out to the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – a drive of less than 20 minutes. The journey is an opportunity to watch the landscape change and meet your fellow Go Cotswolders before your friendly local driver guide tells the interesting story of the Cotswolds on arrival at Dover’s Hill – a story that includes facts, history and local folklore. This 20 minute stop is followed by a “self-explore” stop five minutes away at Chipping Campden.
Stopping for an hour visitors are given the opportunity to explore the historic market town of on their own with maps provided by your guide that includes recommendations of things to do and discount vouchers for establishments in the town.
Broadway Tower and the “Secret Cotswolds village” are the next two stops where your driver guide will tell you more about these two beautiful Cotswolds places. Both stops last approximately 20 minutes.
At around 1pm the tour arrives in Stow-on-the-Wold for the scheduled lunch break. Lunch is not included but with an hour and twenty minutes there is plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and explore the highest town in the Cotswolds. Maps are again provided with discount vouchers, recommendations and a list of possible things to do.
Following lunch is the short journey to the “jewel in the crown” of the Cotswolds – Bourton-on-the-Water. After the short walk to the village centre and a brief introduction to the village provided by your guide, there is half an hour to walk around this picturesque little village.
Departing Bourton-on-the-Water at around 3.15pm the tour begins to head back towards Stratford-upon-Avon through four more Cotswolds villages and along an ancient ridge offering magnificent views across the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. Half an hour before arriving back in Stratford is the final stop at the intriguing Rollright Stones. Three separate ancient sites – of which the tour visits two – made up of standing stones erected by man many thousands of years ago.
After at the King Stone the tour then makes its way back to Stratford-upon-Avon – arriving at approximately 5pm.
