In your host's home you will learn to cook an authentic Thai meal using some ingredients you picked up at the market. You will learn to prepare classic Thai dishes that you will share with your host at her dining table.Experience a private market tour, cooking class and in-home dining experience with Tang in the heart of Bangkok. You will meet Tang at a central subway station and walk together to the market
At the market Tang will introduce you to some local fruits and vegetables that you may have never seen before as well as select fresh produce for the day’s meal. After you’ve checked-off all the items on the shopping list, hop in a tuk tuk to Tang’s spacious family home located deep within a maze of narrow “sois” -- typical in this part of the city. This is the ‘real’ Bangkok!
You will then cook together in her kitchen, learning to prepare an authentic Thai lunch. Tang’s specialties include the classic Isaan dish, larb (minced chicken or pork flavored with lime juice, dill, coriander, mint, chili, and other fresh herbs picked in her garden), tom ka gai (a delicious chicken soup simmered in coconut milk with mushrooms, galangal and lemongrass), kai giaw gung (Thai-style egg omelet with fresh shrimp), pad Thai (perhaps Thailand's most famous dish of stir fried rice noodles with fresh prawns in sweet-sour tamarind sauce), gai pad med ma muuang (stir fried chicken with cashew nuts), panaeng gai (chicken simmered in panaeng curry sauce), and gai thood ta khrai (fried chicken wings with fragrant fried lemongrass).
If you are interested in learning to prepare a specific dish, just ask! We then enjoy lunch together and have the opportunity to chat and learn more about Thai cooking or learn more about local life.
