Bring your children with their favorite stuffed animals to the annual Teddy Bear Picnic at Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum. Enjoy an afternoon of games, crafts, stories and treats.
A fun family afternoon awaits at the annual Teddy Bear Picnic. Delight the children as they bring their favorite teddy bear along to ride a fully restored 1940s aluminum carousel known as "Kiddie Carrousel". Play games from the past including marbles, clothespins in the bottle, and spoon racing. There will also be crafts and face painting. A special show will be scheduled.
The Herschell companies in North Tonawanda (20 minutes from Niagara Falls NY) produced over 3,000 hand carved, wooden carousels. Many of Herschell’s carousels were portable with simply carved horses, meant to be used by traveling carnivals. They were shipped all over the country. Today 71 of the 148 antique, hand-carved wooden carousels still in existence in the United States and Canada were made by Herschell.
