After you’re picked up from your Taipei hotel in the morning, relax on the 1-hour drive by comfortable minivan to the mountains of Maokong where you’ll be swept away on a 25-minute gondola ride to enjoy your spectacular surroundings.

Next, you will visit the Chin Nan Temple, which honours Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Afterwards, head to Sanxia Old Street to explore its many options for lunch (own expense). Over the course of two hours, stroll among early-20th-century arcades as your guide offers recommendations on the snacks and specialty dishes that you can buy. You can also choose to visit Shihting Old Street or Shenkeng Old Street, depending on your preference.

Following by driving to the Bagua Tea Plantation, northern Taiwan’s largest tea plantation. En route, stop at a viewpoint for incredible photo ops of Thousand Island Lake (Qiandao Lake), tucked in a fertile valley in the upper reaches of the Jade reservoir.

Keep your camera out for more sweeping shots when you reach Bagua, one of the most photographed tea plantations in Taiwan.
