With a history of more than 400 years, the Lingering Garden has changed hands several times. Each owner did his best to perfect it. The garden was first built in 1593 during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) by a retired official named Xu Tai. During Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), it was bought by Liu Shu. As a calligraphy lover, he carved masterpieces on both sides of the corridors of the buildings. Almost demolished in the 1930s, the garden was repaired by the government and then opened to the public. In the garden, a designer will show you what flower arrangement art is and teach you how to arrange it as well as providing hands-on opportunity.
Next, you will have a short visit to Shan Tang Old Street and enjoy lunch there. Later, Take a boat ride along the canal to visit Tiger Hill, which is a popular tourist destination and is known for its natural beauty as well as historical sites. The hill is named because it is said to look like a crouching tiger. Another legend states that a white tiger appeared on the hill to guard it following the burial of King Helü. The Japanese tradition dates back over a thousand years and has its own aesthetics and terminology.
Then, you will visit a Silk Factory where you could see the complete technical process of silkworm raising, cocoon sorting, cocoon boiling, and silk reeling, rewinding, and packing. In addition, at the product exhibition hall, there is a exhibition of major final products of this factory including silk wadding quilts. You will have dinner at a local Chinese restaurant before enjoying a performance of local Suzhou opera in Net Master Garden.
