It is said that this temple first be used to adore a holy priest named professor Kuturan and the next holy priest, namely Dang Hyang Niratha. This priest had ended his holy journey in this place that is called moksha. This area has several temples associated with the main temple of Uluwatu. There are various activities in regards to religious ceremonies performed in the temple according to the Hindu Balinese calendar.
Enjoy the beauty of the sunset over the cliffs of Uluwatu. In addition, visitors can also enjoy the traditional dance performance - Kecak Dance. The duration of this dance performance is approximately one hour and is usually held every day at 6pm when the sun sets. The essence of this dance is the rescue of a good king while the wife is kidnapped by an evil king. The rescue is helped by the monkey king (Hanuman). The area around Uluwatu Temple is inhabited by a number of long tailed monkeys.
