The distance between San Cristòbal de las Casas and Sumidero Canyon is about 1 hour.
You will travel through the Sumidero Canyon on a 2.5-hour boat ride and admire the scenic views of natural wildlife around you. During your 2.5-hour boat ride through the canyon, see local wildlife or you can even spot a river crocodile. Learn about the canyon’s natural history (Spanish-only narration) and how it formed around the same time as the Grand Canyon in the United States.
Chiapa de Corzo is a Pueblo Mágico, or Magic Town, a designation by Mexico’s tourism department. Admire this colonial city on the banks of the Grijalva River and you can do some sightseeing for about an hour. See Santo Domingo Church, a former monastery built by Dominican friars in the 16th century. You can also walk around the plaza which has the famous La Pochota; and La Pila fountain, a landmark of the town. Buy some souvenirs and head back to downtown San Cristobal where the tour ends.
