Start your day being collected from your central London hotel in your own private iconic London taxi. Leaving London head out to the first major stop- Bowood House.Bowood House sits within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland and has been home to the Lansdowne family since the 1st Earl of Shelburne purchased it in 1754.
Where better to join in the celebrations of the life and work of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, than at Bowood? Deemed to be one of the finest examples in the country with a flowing mix of plantations and sweeping lawns leading down to a winding mile-long lake. The Bowood landscape has an exceptionally interesting history which will be revealed in a special exhibition ‘Terrestrial Delights: ‘Capability’ Brown and The Bowood Landscape’, which will be displayed in The Orangery of Bowood House. You will explore not only the house but the gardens. See the gardens ablaze with colour from abundant rhododendrons, azaleas and marigolds, a spectacle not to be missed. Wander the house and view the rooms and wonderful historical memorabilia . The house is a mix of Georgian Architecture and historical treasures, such as Queen Victoria's wedding chair and Napoleon's death mask plus a host of other fascinating historical features.
Leaving Bowood behind you can now choose your second half of the day. Choose from a visit to one of the following: Blenheim Palace, Greys Court, Sulgrave Manor, Buscot Park and Gardens, Hidcote or Kelscott Manor.
Any of these stately places offer a wealth of history, building and of course gardens.
