St Thomas Discover Scuba Diving
Charlotte Amalie East, US Virgin Islands
Rating:
Trip Type: Scuba Diving
Duration: Flexible
Never been scuba diving? Now's the perfect time and St. Thomas is the perfect place to start.
We start with a short dry land lesson going over basic scuba skills. Next, we suit up and enter the shallow water to practice in the lesson. Once you are comfortable we submerge and watch your instructor feed the fish as you begin your guided dive along a live coral reef, floating weightlessly. You will also be accompanied by a variety of tropical fish, and just might encounter a turtle or stingray.

When you arrive at the dive shop, we will start with by filling out the required paperwork, a waiver and medical questionnaire. It is very IMPORTANT to review the medical questions. If you answer “YES” to any question, you can’t participate in this excursion. You will then begin the first step of your PADI Discover Scuba Dive. During the dry land lesson, your instructor will explain the most important rules of scuba diving, along with the basic skills needed while diving. The beginner scuba lesson will be concise and designed to inform but not confuse.
Group maximum while diving is four students per Instructor.
After the dry land lesson, you will suit up, enter the water along a sandy shore (conditions may vary with the weather), and practice the skills covered in the lesson with your instructor. The walk is approximately 20 feet into the water.
After gaining confidence through practice, you will submerge and watch your instructor feed the fish as you begin your guided dive along a live coral reef, floating weightlessly. You will also be accompanied by a variety of tropical fish, and just might encounter a turtle or stingray. During your dive, your air gauge will be carefully monitored by your instructor.
The dive portion typically lasts about 40 minutes, to a maximum depth of 40 feet, depending on your comfort level. You will be surprised by how quickly you will relax! Your scuba dive will be an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. Cameras are available to purchase or rent so you can record your dive.
If time allows after completing your dive, we invite you to stay and snorkel or enjoy Coki Beach which is considered the best snorkel spot on St Thomas. Taxis are available near by the dive shop when you are ready to return back to you cruise ship or hotel. All day snorkel rental is included with your dive.
