Note: This tour is for certified divers only.Take in pleasant scenery during a 50-minute powerboat cruise down St Lucia’s western coastline. Arrive at Anse Chastanet Resort, a hillside estate facing two volcanic sand beaches, Anse Chastanet and Anse Mamin. (Please note that this tour is for certified divers only.)

At Anse Chastanet beach, receive a safety briefing from the scuba center, a PADI 5-Star Dive Resort and DAN (Divers Alert Network) Partners in Dive Safety facility. Suit up, pack on diving gear and head out with an expert guide to your first dive, just a few feet away, in Anse Chastanet reef. Located in the heart of marine reserve Soufrière Marine Management Area, this reef was voted one of the top five shore dives in the Caribbean by Rodale’s Scuba Diving Magazine.

Glide over a marine plateau and peer over slopes dropping off over 140 feet (43 meters). Keeping in mind the marine reserve policy of ‘Look but don't touch,’ explore the reef covered with gorgonians, soft corals and sponges. Swim beside parrotfish, needle fish, blennies and moray eels, and catch sight of crabs scurrying into rock crevices.
During this first dive, your guide takes a few moments to check that you’re weighted properly and asks you to perform certain skills, like removing and replacing your mask and recovering your regulator, to make sure you’re ready to tackle the dive coming up next.

Depending on tidal conditions, your guide takes you on a boat ride to one of the following five sites for your second dive:
  • At Pinnacles, check out four soaring seamounts, home to trumpet fish, filefish and seahorses.
  • Find huge barrel sponges and mature coral heads teeming with chromis and grunts at Trou Diable, patois for ‘devil’s hole.’
  • Drift dive and be transported by the currents at Fairyland, a gently sloping plateau sparkling with colorful corals and sponges.
  • At crescent-shaped Turtle Reef, plummeting from a plateau starting at 40 to more than 150 feet (12 to more than 46 meters), marvel at stunning pillar corals and barrel sponges, and spot hawksbill and green sea turtles moseying over from nearby grass beds.
  • Admire deep-water gorgonians and sea whips at Grand Caille, where you’ll also observe large and beautiful brain corals and barrel sponges.
Back on shore, return your gear and shower at the on-site facilities. Tuck into a delicious lunch at the resort’s Jungle Beach Bar & Grill (vegetarian options available), and relax under the shade of a coconut palm before it’s time to be taken back to your hotel.
