On this walk called “Spiritual Sunday Walk,” we focus on the past and the current residents of Istanbul from the perspective of religion and beliefs. From Armenian Gregorian Church to Islamic Mevlevi (Sufi) House, Sephardic Jewish to Ottoman Mosques we will visit a huge variety of temples.

On this walk called “Spiritual Sunday Walk,” we focus on the past and the current residents of Istanbul from the perspective of religion and beliefs. From Armenian Gregorian Church to Islamic Mevlevi (Sufi) House, Sephardic Jewish to Ottoman Mosques we will visit a huge variety of temples.Every Sunday at 10am, we meet in front of Galatasaray High School (Galatasaray Lisesi in Turkish) and do the Spiritual Sunday Walk. In this tour, you will follow the footsteps of religious rituals of different communities inhabiting Pera (Beyoglu in Turkish) for centruies. The tour starts in front of Galatasaray High School and finishes at Karaköy.
This tour is for people interested in different religions, beliefs and religious ceremonies. With this tour, participants will discover the multi-ethnic and religious culture of Istanbul throughout history. The participants will visit different houses of worship such as mosques, churches, Sufi house and a former synagogue.
The Sunday walk will end at Karaköy around 3pm. For the ones who are interested in joining the Sema (Whirling Dervishes) there is a weekly Sufi ceremony at Galata Mevlevihanesi, every Sunday starting at 5pm. (This part is optional)
