This is a day trip to some of the impressive sites outside of Cusco. Andahuaylillas is a small village famous for its church, Iglesia de San Pedro, which has been referred to as the "Sistine Chapel of America." You'll also visit Piquillacta which is a well-preserved archaeological site from the Wari period, a pre-Inca culture. Finally see Tipon, an impressive example of Inca ingenuity and agricultural innovation.

This is a day trip to some of the impressive sites outside of Cusco. Andahuaylillas is a small village famous for its church, Iglesia de San Pedro, which has been referred to as the "Sistine Chapel of America." You'll also visit Piquillacta which is a well-preserved archaeological site from the Wari period, a pre-Inca culture. Finally see Tipon, an impressive example of Inca ingenuity and agricultural innovation.Around 9am, you will be picked up from your hotel and leave from Cusco for the Andahuaylillas (a 45-minute journey), a small village famous for its beautiful church. Here, you will see beautiful murals of traditional Cusquenian art, amazing embroideries, and carved altars.
From there, you will go to Piquillacta, where you will explore the ruins of the pre-Inca culture of Wari. Later the tour takes you to Tipon, which was believed to be an agricultural laboratory and which also has an impressive irrigation system. Tipon is also known for its "cuyerias" where cuy (guinea pigs) are cooked in large ovens. If you're interested, you can stop to try this traditional Peruvian cuisine (not included in the price of the tour). You will return to Cusco at 4pm.
