Dive into the crystalline waters of the Silfra fissure, a rift in the earth’s crust between the American and European tectonic plates. You’ll spend an unforgettable 40 minutes snorkeling and taking in the sights below surface level. Numbers limited to eight people per guide to ensure a small-group experience. Choose from a morning or afternoon departure, then start your day with a pickup from your centrally located Reykjavik hotel. Hop inside your comfortable minivan and travel to Thingvellir National Park. Roughly 40 minutes from Reykjavik, the UNESCO World Heritage–listed national park is the site where the world’s longest-running parliament was formed. It’s also where the Silfra fissure, a natural rift in the earth’s crust, shows the point where the European and American tectonic plates meet.

On arrival, change into your provided equipment, including a snorkel set and dry suit, and listen to a comprehensive safety briefing. Then, head for Lake Thingvallavatn where the blue depths of the Silfra fissure await.

Marvel at the rugged Icelandic landscape and the otherworldly beauty of the rift, whose crystal waters are renowned for their visibility — you’ll be able to see a ravine that stretches down some 82 feet (25 meters) below the surface.

Dive into the fissure and thrill as you catch your first glimpses of the underwater sights. Follow your guide to the most scenic spots, absorbing incredible views of the deep ravine and jagged rocks as you float effortlessly between the American and European continents.

After roughly 40 minutes, return to dry land. Change back into your clothes, then hop inside your minivan and return to Reykjavik, where your tour ends with a drop-off back at your hotel.

Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.
