This trip includes more time on the river for interpretive opportunities and a relaxing time at our riverside camp. Play some outdoor games, roast some marshmallows, catch a few chapters of a good book - all while you wait for your dutch oven lunch, hot off the coals. Slow it down, get away from it all and enjoy the river.
CHECK-IN & TRANSPORTATION:
This trip requires check-in 30 minutes prior to launch time. The check-in location is at the Mad River office located at 1255 S HWY 89, just 2 miles south of town. Transportation from the Mad River boat house to the river and back is provided on every Mad River trip. Complimentary pick up is available at most Jackson and Teton Village locations.

This trip has a meal served at Mad River's exclusive river access at Blind Canyon - located about half-way down the second 8-Mile stretch of this trip. Menu includes dutch oven chili, cornbread and a dutch oven cobbler for dessert. Hot and cold beverages are available. Vegetarian needs may be accommodated with advanced notice.

So whether you're a newcomer, it's been 30 years, or you're a seasoned river rat, come early and experience the Snake River Canyon.
This trip launches from West Table Boat Ramp in the Snake River Canyon and winds its way south toward Alpine, WY. You'll travel 8 river miles from start to finish.
There are about 8 sets of rapids, ranging from class I and II to class III. Various river features encountered along the way include Lunchcounter and Big Kahuna rapids, Million Dollar Fishing Hole, Gauging Straights and Bailing Straights. You'll pause just after the gauging straights for lunch at Mad River's exclusive riverside camp at Blind Canyon, overlooking the two largest rapids in the canyon.
At the end of your meal, you will hit the water once again to finish out your whitewater experience with the biggest rapids in the canyon up first. Your guides will inform you on the history of the area as well as the local flora and fauna.
The Snake River Canyon is rich in geological history and your guide will point out some of the features that make this canyon unique. You might see river otters, osprey and bald eagles on your trip. The lucky few might even catch a glimpse of a mountain goat, a mule deer, an elk or even a grizzly or black bear.
BOAT TYPE:
This trip features our small raft. This raft is an AIRE inflatable, self-bailing, 15'6" raft. This is an 8 man raft. There are 6 paddling positions and 2 non-paddling in this raft.
