You will be picked up at your hotel in Kushiro downtown between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and start this exciting ice fishing excursion in a frozen lake.
Smelt fishing is a popular winter activity in Kushiro and your local guide will provide all the tips considering the weather conditions and lake ice conditions of the day. While experiencing the ice fishing, enjoy the unique vast scenery of white ice fields in the winter. The sound of the shrinking ice will echo from under your feet in this season. You can join us empty-handed without bringing any special tools! You will be provided with all equipment required for smelt fishing including hand spring rod, 4-hocks, bait, drilling, etc. Your guide will first open a hole in the ice for you. The thickness of the ice is at least 60 cm.
If you catch any smelt, you can cook it and eat it on the spot. Feel free to bring rice balls or beer. When the tour ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
