Join Nura Diya, meaning this 'country or camp' for an Aboriginal focused, cultural journey through Sydney’s Taronga Zoo. Hear the Dreamtime creation stories of Australia’s animals and desert landscape, told from the perspective of an Aboriginal guide. See Australia’s amazing animals in a new light, as you discover the binding relationships between flora and fauna and the traditional owners. Enjoy personal attention from your guide on this small-group tour, limited to eight people. Start your tour with a ride in the Sky Safari gondola with scenic views over Sydney Harbour and a bird’s-eye view of orangutans as you skim across the canopy of a Southeast-Asian rainforest to the top entrance of Taronga Zoo.

Meet your Aboriginal guide and hear stories of the Cammeraigal people, and Cammeraigal country on which the zoo is set on. During Nura Diya, be entranced by the traditional Dreamtime stories of how the earth came to be created. These Dreamtime tales have been handed down over the millennia by the Aboriginal elders.

You’ll also see the animals that feature prominently in indigenous art, and be entertained by stories of Aboriginal song and dance as you enjoy an interactive experience with Australian wildlife, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and a vast array of birds.

Discover the importance of flora and fauna in Aboriginal culture, and learn the centuries-old traditional uses of plants for food and medicine.

This is a unique small-group tour (maximum of eight participants) that offers insight into the culture and traditions of Aboriginal people and their connection to the land.

After your tour, enjoy morning tea at the cafe and then spend the day exploring the many exhibits and shows. Join the regularly scheduled keeper talks to learn more about Taronga Zoo's wide variety of animals.
