Immerse yourself in the colorful hubbub of Morocco on a small-group day trip to Tangier from Malaga! After crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, get to know the city on a walking tour, scouting out treasures in the souks and exploring the winding alleyways that flank the casbah (historical fortress) of Tangier's medina. Feast on Moroccan delicacies for lunch, and then see the seafront promenade and other top sights on an afternoon coach tour. Summer tours additionally include visits to beautiful lookout points at the Roman necropolis, Cape Spartel and the Cave of Hercules.

Numbers are limited to 20 on this small-group tour, ensuring personalized attention from a guide. Start your small-group day trip with a pickup from the meeting point, and then travel to the ferry port for your high-speed crossing to Morocco, just across the Strait of Gibraltar.

After 45-60 minutes, step onto dry land and travel to the exotic city of Tangier, on Morocco’s northernmost tip. First stop is one of the city’s smaller souks, where locals trade vegetables, fruits and spices. Soak up the buzz and hear tips for haggling for souvenirs as you jostle past stalls heaving with spices. Work your way to a street lined with Moroccan jewelers, and learn about the lavish wedding rituals where elaborate jewels are worn.

Continue to the old walled city, known as the medina, and explore its atmospheric alleyways lined with tea houses and shops. Pose for photos in front of the city’s whitewashed casbah, and watch a snake charmer try to hypnotize a snake on the street. Call in at a bakery to see some of the popular Tangier breads and pastries, and then enjoy a well-earned stop for lunch at a traditional Moroccan restaurant. The menu changes on each tour, but couscous and tagine are typical dishes.

Feeling revived, head to a bazaar to see a colorful array of carpets and handicrafts. Practice your bartering skills while browsing for souvenirs, and then return to your coach to finish exploring the city. Look out for attractions such as the seafront promenade and Boulevard Mohamed V—the vibrant street that runs from the medina to Tangier Ville Nouvelle—and pass Severo Ochoa Institute, the Spanish school in the heart of the city.

If you are taking the tour between November 1 and May 31, return back to the port and travel back to the Costa del Sol. Alternatively, if you are visiting during the summer months, stay in Tangier for another few hours to visit the city’s old Roman necropolis and Cape Spartel, where the Mediterranean Sea joins the Atlantic Ocean. Relax on the coast with a mint tea, and then travel to the Cave of Hercules for a photo stop in the sand dunes. Enjoy some free time for a camel ride (own expense), or simply sit and soak up the views before returning to the port for your crossing. Both tours finish with a drop off at the start point.
