Meet your guide at a central location in Hanoi, then hop on a bicycle, snap on your helmet and leave the bustling streets of the capital behind. You’ll follow a scenic road that winds through the city’s Old Quarter, through its urban outskirts and into the countryside, pedaling over back roads at a leisurely pace.
After crossing the cantilevered Long Bien Bridge — Hanoi’s oldest bridge, designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1902 — cycle along the banks of the Red River, where your guide points out local villagers at work. On a visit to an artist’s estate, you’ll learn about trends in contemporary Vietnamese fine arts and view works on display. Afterward, your bike tour continues to Red River Island, including plenty of stops to photograph the banana and produce farms with fruit tasting along the way.
Next up is the pottery village of Quang Ba where stacks of ceramics wait to be transported into Hanoi by bicycle. Pass floating houses and colorful fields of flowers en route to West Lake, Hanoi’s largest lake, located in the center of the city. Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee or green tea while watching the sunset before you return by bike to the starting point.
