You will take a guided tour of the Hospices of Beaune (entrance fees included). This famous monument used to be an hospital founded in 1443 by the chancellor Nicolas Rolin and his wife Guigone de Salins. Its architecture is a typical example of Burgundy flamboyant Gothic style and its colourful polychromatic glazed tile roofs are worldwide famous. The Last Judgement triptych painting by Flemish painter Rogier Van Der Weyden is the highlight of the visit. Your guide will show you the Salle des Pôvres (where the sick ones were looked after), the kitchens, the pharmacy and so on...
While in the vineyards your guide will explain the difference between the appellations “Village, 1er Cru and Grand Crus”. One of the best places for Chardonnay.
Tour, wine tasting and lunch will be savored at a local domain in Santenay (drinks included). Founded in 1860, this producer situated on Santenay's main square is home to superb vaulted cellars constructed over two levels, the oldest of which dates back to the 15th Century.
