The golden Royal Grand Palace is a complex of buildings in the heart of Bangkok and has been the official residence of the Royal Family of Siam, Thailand, since 1782.

The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is part of the Royal Chapel, which according to tradition holds supernatural powers, is the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. The Buddha itself was carved from a single piece of jade.

The Grand Palace also houses the Wat Pho complex, renowned for its reclining Buddha, covered in gold leaf and which at 150 feet (46 metres) long and 49 feet (15 metres) high is the largest reclining Buddha in Thailand. Buddhist and travellers traditionally leave coins in the recipients behind the Buddha and ask for a wish and good luck.

You will also have the opportunity to take two optional excursions. In the first you can visit the city and the temples of Wat Traimit, Wat Pho and Wat Benchamabophit while in the second you can visit the Grand Palace and its canals.

Please remember to wear appropriate attire (trousers, jeans or long knee-length skirt are permitted) to enter the temples.
