Once you have encountered the outstanding beauty of Park Güell in Barcelona, no other park will ever amaze you quite as much. Led by a local guide, you’ll explore the park, see the most beautiful spots and hear many interesting facts about the park and its famous designer, Antoni Gaudi. Find out what makes the park so special, and enjoy stunning views of Barcelona from the park’s location on a hill.Park Güell, an architectural marvel created by Antoni Gaudi in the early 1900s, was commissioned by Count Güell, who wanted Gaudi to design an elegant estate with family homes. But the housing development was unsuccessful and the space was instead turned into a public park. It’s an iconic feature of Barcelona that you don’t want to miss.

On this guided walking tour, enter Park Güell through the staircase dominated by a colorful dragon decorated with mosaic tiles; this Catalan style of mosaic is known as trencadís and is one of the most characteristic design styles in Barcelona. The park is arranged around a large central square bordered by a snaking, trencadís-covered bench.

Below the square, the roof of the lower court is supported by 86 Doric columns, with paths between them and viaducts on sloping columns. Gaudi’s work often united nature and architecture, and Park Güell is no different – the columns stand tall like trees.

Park Güell also contains a small house where Gaudi lived at one stage. The house has now been converted into a museum and contains interesting furniture also designed by Gaudi.
