Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments in Sri Lanka. Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World, this ancient palace and fortress complex has significant archaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is probably the most visited tourist destination in Sri Lanka.
You will be picked up between 5:30 and 6:00 am. from your hotel in Kandy and transferred to Sigiriya, which is about 90 km (55 miles) away. Today Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the best
preserved examples of ancient urban planning and also the most visited
historic site in Sri Lanka. Later on our way back to Kandy you will visit Spice Garden. Then, you will visit Sīhāgiri (the
Lion Rock) which was build by King Kasyapa
(477 - 495 A.D.). At 5 p.m. you will stop by Kandy for shopping and transferred back to your hotel around 9 pm.
