Join us on this 2 hour city tour of Sibiu. The trip starts in the Big Square, the medieval heart of Sibiu where we can admire the wonderful churches, museums and buildings of great architectural and historical value. First will be the Haller House, the only remaining building in a Renaissance style. Then, The Brukenthal Museum, the first museum opened to the public from Romania that brings back the Viennese atmosphere in the middle of the town. Next to the museum we can admire the impressive Art Nouveau building of the Town Hall. The Catholic Church, dating from the 18th century contains valuable elements like the fresco representing “Mary and the baby”, the most important baroque accomplishment in Sibiu. Then, the Council Tower, that used to defend the entrance gate into the second precinct, will take us to the Small Square, a medieval trade fair. In here, under the „surveillance" of the "Eyes of the City“ we can see the place of the first pharmacy from Romania, now the Pharmacy Museum. Another important building it's the Luxemburg House, a building that still preserves unique architectural elements thus reminding you of initial charm from the 13th century. The next stop will be at the Liars` Bridge, the first forged iron bridge in Romania and one of the most important symbols of the city with an interesting legend to discover. Passing it we reach the Huet Square which holds one of the most impressive Gothic halidoms in Romania, the Evangelic Church. Then we walk through the Stairs Passage that connects the Upper Town with the Lower Town and we arrive at the Orthodox Cathedral, one of the religious centers of the Orthodox Church in Romania and a copy at a smaller scale of the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Constantinople. After visiting the Church we go along the side with the fortifications, where the old stronghold towers gather round the heart of the city. Then, passing through the General's Tunnel we arrive back in the Big Square and our medieval story will end.
