A refined tour through Sicilian gastronomic products: the salt or so called 'white gold', and the Sicilian cuisine, a result of foreign influences and the Arab or the Norman domination. The tour begins with the visit of the Saltpans’ Reserve. This white gold represents one of the major production and one of the fundamental activities of Trapani’s economy, along with fishing. Saltpans’ protected area offers travellers a suggestive landscape, especially in the sunset, with Egadi Islands in the background. We recommended visiting it in summer, during the salt collection, when the area is full of salt heaps creating an unforgettable sight.
The guided visit ends in the Salt Museum with a characteristic tasting of three seasoned whole salts combined to a glass of local wine.
Ended the tasting, you will move to Firriato Winery, where Baglio Soria is located, an ancient structure erected in the 1600’s on a little hill adjoining Trapani‘s Saltpans.
Guided visit of the beautiful estate and finally a special tasting of five selected wines. Next, an intriguing Light Lunch by the Resident chef of Baglio Soria. A perfect marriage of food and wine including two revised Sicilian recipes, a typical dessert and a glass of wine.
