Your experience at Rainbow Springs lets you explore free flight aviaries, feed the huge wild trout, watch the bird show and get the adrenaline rush of The Big Splash!Your scenic drive from the Port of Tauranga takes you from Mount Maunganui through the beautiful New Zealand countryside to arrive at Rainbow Springs in Rotorua – set in 22 acres of beautiful native trees and streams and home to some of New Zealand’s most precious wildlife.
The entire experience is built around New Zealand’s largest and most successful Kiwi conservation centre. You will be able to explore the free flight aviaries, feed the birds, come face to face with pre-history in the eyes of our Tuatara, talk to Jenny the hand-reared Kea, feed the largest wild trout you will ever see, experience the wonder of our bird show and meet some of the funniest feathered performers.
You will also be able to experience the adrenalin rush of The Big Splash water ride (yes, you may get wet on the splash down) that brings to life the story of New Zealand’s ecological evolution.
There is a cafe so enjoy lunch at Rainbow Springs (this is not included in the cost) before re-boarding your vehicle and travelling into Rotorua to see the main sights of this geothermal city – including the famous Government Gardens, Blue Baths (a historic bath house), Rachel Spring (a boiling hot pool reaching temperatures of up to 100°C), lakefront and scenic sights.
Your journey draws to a close with a scenic drive that will have you arriving at the Port of Tauranga passenger gate at least an hour prior to your ship sailing time.
