This lesson is good for the first time visitor, who wants to understand the Japanese culture in depth.First, you will greet your teacher at an authentic Shodo calligraphy class (Shurei Shodo class) where you will be given instructions written in English. Follow the instructions, practice Shodo calligraphy step-by-step.
Your posture and the way you hold the brush are very important when beginning shodo. After learning the correct posture and grip, you will learn how to write many types of lines using the brush.
Next, you will receive some Japanese words to practice such as "love," "heart," "friend," "dream," or "samurai." You can practice as many times as you like. Do not hesitate to ask your teacher questions!
After practicing, you will try writing on a special kind of paper called Shikishi, and the teacher will give you a stamp after completing your calligraphy art, your souvenir.
