A walking tour of about 4 hours to discover Sferracavallo, the westernmost village of Palermo that keeps alive its original identity, place of fishermen and marine reserves, picturesque processions and ancient traditions."Sferracavallo is the northern seaside village of Palermo, the place where I grew up and which is settled in a marine reserve. I know the history of this place, the people, the plants, the sea. Everybody here identifies me as the grandson of “Uncle Giovanni” said Cacaniru, and it was my grandfather to teach me what I know. Between past and present, I will take you to the caves that became homes during the war, I will show you the resort places of the last century. I'll point to the worms sidewalks and the Tamarisk trees. I'll tell you aboutr the famous procession of Saints Cosmas and Damian and we will meet Simone Aiello who will tell us about fishing techniques and his commitment against the deterioration of the village. We will arrive at Cape Barcarello, where I will tell you what my grandfather taught me about sea and life”.
