Your trip begins with an early departure out of the Melbourne CBD making your way over the Westgate Bridge on your journey towards the Great Ocean Road. The first stop will be for morning tea at one of the many popular surf beaches to watch surfers and go for a walk along the beach. A short drive away takes you to Memorial Arch, also known as the Great Ocean Road sign. From here the road and the ocean wind along as one with breathtaking views along this wonderfully rugged coastline with the next major stop being in a small town known as Kennett River. Here your guide will help you find Koalas in their natural habitat amongst the eucalyptus trees. Winding along a little further brings the tour to the town of Apollo Bay where you will enjoy a pizza lunch with time to explore the towns shops or head to the beach for a quick swim.
After lunch the road winds away from the coastline and into the Otway ranges where your guide will take you on a guided walk through the rainforest. Continuing the journey along further you will come back to the coastline on the Shipwreck Coast, home to 3 of the major attractions. First up are the 12 Apostles. Infamous around the world, these iconic limestone structures stand out from the coast line and highlight the natural beauty, wonder and danger this coast holds. A little further down the road will take you to Loch Ard Gorge. Hear the story of one of Australia's most famous shipwrecks and take some time out to explore this isolated gorge and it's beach while getting a better understanding of the erosion process that formed it. Finishing up the tour will be Gibson Steps. A series of steps carved into the coast line taking you down to sea level where you can get a greater understanding of how tall the apostles actually are as Gog and Magog tower above you.
If you select the accommodation option, you will be staying in Apollo Bay. If you do not select an accommodation option, you will need to source your own accommodation at one of many seaside towns on the Great Ocean Road (Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne and Apollo Bay being the most common towns). You will be dropped at your chosen destination by your guide and picked up the following day(s) by another guide who will finish the tour with you.
