This circular route begins and ends in Faial da Terra, in the Burguete area, and takes about 3 hours to walk. The trail begins next to the stream Ribeira do Faial da Terra. The cobbled path goes up for about 300 metres until you come the abandoned village of Sanguinho. In this village, which has been restored, you can find typical traditional buildings, such as small farm holdings. The name of the village comes from sanguinho, one of the endemic plants of the Azores and Madeira, which is believed to have grown in profusion in this area, and you can still see specimens of it alongside the path. Through woods of acacia and Victorian box we follow the path towards the Salto do Prego waterfall. After observing and having lunch by the waterfall we come back to Faial da Terra by the stream. Walkers are requested not to pick any fruit or vegetables along this trail.
