Your San Diego whale-watching cruise departs from Navy Pier, where you'll step aboard a stable yacht with plenty of space to catch sight of the Pacific Ocean's abundant marine life. As the boat pulls away from the dock, admire views of the San Diego skyline and Southern California coastline.

Head out to the open ocean, and watch for barking sea lions and pods of leaping dolphins playing alongside the boat as you listen to live commentary by the professional captain and onboard naturalist, a trained volunteer from the San Diego Natural History Museum. When you're out far enough, search the sea for the breathtaking blue whales, which can reach up to 100 feet (30 meters) long. Your naturalist guide will explain their migration, breaching, flukes and tail slaps, and will point out additional wildlife sightings such as minke whales, fin whales, humpbacks, sharks, harbor and elephant seals, and seabirds.

Stay comfortable with both indoor and outdoor seating, and visit the snack stand featuring hot food and a full bar if you get hungry or thirsty (own expense). Your cruise ends with return to Navy Pier.
